Job Title: Carpenter

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Keats Island Construction and Services LTD.

Job Summary:

The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to building and repairing structures, including preparing estimates, reading blueprints, and measuring and cutting materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Prepare tenders and quotations
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites
  • Survey building locations and levels
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Supervise other workers
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Work Environment:

The Carpenter will work in a variety of locations, including construction sites, factories, and offices. The work environment will be noisy, dusty, and physically demanding.

Requirements:
  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift heavy loads
