At Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI), we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Transportation to lead our transportation operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating all transportation activities out of our Ingersoll, ON distribution center.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain processes to achieve company goals in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
- Address vendor and customer challenges, both internal and external.
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage personnel in DTI related to garage operations, managers, dispatch, and drivers.
- Work with the HR Manager on safety opportunities, Workers' Compensation, benefits, discipline, and quality training for all DTI employees.
- Contain costs through effective routing of customer orders and management of inbound freight by the dispatching staff.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all DTI employees, as well as compliance with all OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Prepare and perform budget responsibilities for capital, target, operating, and payroll budgets for the transportation area of the distribution center.
- Focus on distribution center DTI service levels, miles per cwt, turnover, and safety frequency rate.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent Dot Foods experience.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills, experience in using Microsoft Office programs/applications.
- Experience and/or education with transportation management.
- Master's degree.
- Familiarity with sales, truck and trailer maintenance, Human Resources, warehousing, and distribution.
- Ability to motivate and work well with others.
