Job Overview

The Building Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities and ensuring the functionality of facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to managing maintenance projects and leading a team of skilled workers.

Education Requirements
  • Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is mandatory.
Work Environment
  • Work will primarily take place outdoors.
  • Tasks may involve working at heights and in potentially hazardous conditions.

Work Setting

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise maintenance personnel and coordinate various projects.
  • Schedule and manage daily activities effectively.
  • Provide training or arrange for the training of team members.
  • Set up and maintain machinery and equipment.
  • Estimate costs and required materials for projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Order necessary materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Lead and instruct team members in their tasks.
  • Perform work at heights, utilizing scaffolding or swing stages.
  • Communicate with contractors for repair and maintenance services.
  • Make minor adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and coordinate with tradespersons for major repairs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as painting and drywall repairs.
Physical Demands
  • This position is physically demanding and requires manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods is necessary.
Required Tools and Equipment
  • Steel-toed safety boots are required.
  • A hard hat is necessary for safety compliance.

  • Strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Must be a team player, capable of working collaboratively.
