- Providing Wound Care and Support
- Provide wound care and assist with dressing changes to promote healing and prevent infection.
- Collaborating with Healthcare Professionals
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each resident.
- Educating Residents and Families
- Educate residents and their families about health conditions and treatments to promote understanding and empowerment.
- Ensuring Residents' Safety and Comfort
- Ensure residents' safety and comfort by responding to emergencies and providing immediate care as needed.
- Documenting Patient Information
- Document residents' health status and care provided to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Education and Certification
- Diploma from a recognized RPN program or equivalent.
- Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Experience and Skills
- Experience working in a long-term care or retirement home setting is considered an asset.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed.
- Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR.
- Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months).
- Clear Vulnerable sector checks are required upon hire.
- Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful, and courteous manner.
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and crisis-resolution skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable car. This position requires daily travel of more than 1 hour, so 100% must have a vehicle.
