Position Overview

As a Child Development Specialist at Heritage Mountain Daycare, you will play a crucial role in fostering the growth and development of young children. This permanent position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and operates primarily in English.

Work Environment

You will be working in a child care centre, where your expertise will help create a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere for children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate children's developmental milestones to design personalized learning plans.
  • Support colleagues with daily tasks, including housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Devise and execute child-care programs that enhance the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth of children.
  • Maintain and care for daycare equipment.
  • Engage children through storytelling and interactive activities.
  • Oversee and mentor staff, trainees, or volunteers.
  • Communicate children's progress and concerns to parents and guardians.
  • Lead educational activities, including storytelling, music, and excursions.
  • Manage inventory by ordering necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in record-keeping alongside early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • Encourage creative expression through various mediums such as art, music, and physical play.
  • Guide children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and hygiene.
  • Prepare snacks and organize spaces for meal and rest times.
  • Monitor children for potential learning or behavioral issues and document findings.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and challenges.
  • Understand and adhere to licensing regulations.
  • Establish behavioral guidelines to promote a positive environment.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and community service providers.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment that prioritizes children's well-being.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of fellow early childhood educators and assistants.
Qualifications
  • Possession of an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.
Skills and Attributes
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
