Job Description

Job Title: Software Development Manager, Freight Partner

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Manager to lead our team of talented engineers in building innovative products and solutions for Amazon's transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers to design, develop, and deploy large-scale software systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect business and systems requirements, write technical specifications, and drive project schedules from design to release.
  • Architect and implement technical solutions that meet business needs and drive Amazon's overall technical architecture and engineering practices.
  • Measure the success of projects and systems, and make data-driven decisions to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Partner with product and program management teams to define and develop multi-tier web services and other software systems.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and manage teams of software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective.
  • Communicate with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience.
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers.
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership.
