POSITION SUMMARY

The Faculty of Education and Social Work at Thompson Rivers University is seeking applications for a sessional educator to instruct the course on Personal and Academic Success Strategies.

Course Overview: This course equips students with essential methodologies and strategies for achieving sustained academic success while maintaining a balanced university and personal life. Key topics include:

  • Time management
  • Learning styles
  • Reading techniques
  • Test preparation
  • Effective communication
  • Diversity awareness
  • Group dynamics
  • Financial management

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • A degree in a pertinent field, including coursework related to the subject matter.
  • Possession of a Teaching Certificate, Instructor's Diploma, or a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience along with a demonstrated commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Experience in teaching a diverse student population, particularly those who may have faced challenges in their previous educational experiences.
  • Preferred skills in fostering intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63).
  • Experience in incorporating Indigenous knowledge and pedagogical methods (TRC CA 62) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence, including the development of culturally relevant curricula (TRC CA 10) is preferred.
