As a Senior Planning Specialist, you will be instrumental in managing various planning initiatives under the supervision of the Planning Manager.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of land use planning within the regional office
  • Lead and manage development projects throughout northern and central Ontario
  • Assist development proponents in navigating the Planning Act process
  • Facilitate Public Consultation meetings and presentations related to Planning Act applications
  • Draft various Planning Act applications along with necessary documentation
  • Enhance land use through analytical thinking and policy evaluation
  • Collaborate with municipalities on strategic planning efforts
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while conducting Official Plan reviews
  • Engage with professionals, municipalities, and governmental bodies
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land use planning and development
  • Thorough understanding of the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Official Plans, and Zoning By-Laws
  • Full Membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute is required
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible to achieve desired outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
  • Skills:
    • Driven and results-focused
    • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent communication capabilities
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Possession of a valid Class "G" driver's license
