Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive Senior Architect, Business Intelligence who excels in a fast-paced environment. This role encompasses the entire BI lifecycle, from data source analysis and Extract Transform Load (ETL) development to the implementation of analysis and reporting solutions. The individual will be responsible for constructing Data and Analytics platform solutions and implementing tools that facilitate data exploration, predictive analytics, and other functionalities. This position is dedicated to designing, developing, implementing, and supporting solutions that provide the business with timely and actionable insights. A strong enthusiasm for modern BI technologies and solutions is essential, as the architect will propose innovations that maintain Pet Valu's BI solutions at the forefront of the industry. The Senior Architect will also mentor the development team and the business in adopting new BI solutions, enhancing their understanding and effective use of departmental data assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocate for BI architectural concepts and solutions among IT and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other IT departments and business partners on BI and reporting initiatives.
- Research and evaluate emerging BI technologies and solutions.
- Recommend new BI technologies to ensure platforms align with business requirements.
- Contribute to BI strategy and the development of both short-term and long-term BI roadmaps.
- Design Pet Valu's Business Intelligence data and analytics platforms to enable self-service BI capabilities across various business units.
- Develop and implement automated processes and tools to enhance self-service efficiency.
- Establish and maintain enterprise-wide standards, best practices, and policies for BI development, security, and operations.
- Deliver Business Intelligence solutions, including analytics, dashboards, and reports, to support informed decision-making that enhances profitability and service quality.
- Apply software engineering principles and best practices to design solutions that meet operational needs, such as scalability and maintainability.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in BI architecture.
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in proposing BI strategies and defining BI roadmaps.
- Experience with large-scale systems that involve reporting, transactional systems, and integration with other enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with modern BI data and visualization platforms, such as Snowflake, Tableau, and PowerBI.
- A deep understanding of contemporary data architecture concepts, including data mesh, data fabric, and data lakes.
- Experience with ELT/ETL development and data integration processes.
- Strong proficiency in system analysis and design.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts for requirements gathering, prototyping, and validation.
- Ability to resolve technical issues through debugging and investigation.
- Experience with various source/version control systems and knowledge of code merging concepts.
- Experience working with high-performing technology teams.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies, source control, and automated testing and deployment.
- Understanding of the ITIL framework.
