We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Farm Laborer to join our team at ALTERNATIVE MED CANADA INC.

Work Site Environment

Our farm specializes in other miscellaneous crop farming, and we are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Tasks
  • Apply fertilizers to ensure optimal crop growth
  • Apply the technique of hoeing between the row to maintain crop health
  • Clean the crops to ensure they meet our high standards
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas to maintain a safe working environment
  • Clear fields of wood and stones to prepare them for planting
  • Cut agricultural crops to harvest them at the optimal time
  • Cut agricultural seed according to farm standards to ensure quality
  • Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots to maximize our yield
  • Dose water saturation, light and temperature as instructed for crop growth and development to ensure optimal conditions
  • Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to the size, shape, colour and volume to fetch high price in market. to ensure we are getting the best price for our produce
  • Guide growing shoots into optimal development positions to promote healthy growth
  • Hand harvesting vegetables to ensure they are handled with care
  • Harvest seedlings to ensure we are getting the best start for our crops
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications to prepare it for planting
  • Maintain and manage growth of vines, vine canopy and grapes to ensure optimal conditions
  • Mixing fertilizer to create the perfect blend for our crops
  • Monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns to ensure the health and well-being of our animals
  • Monitoring animal health to ensure we are providing the best care for our animals
  • Pack fruits and vegetables to prepare them for market
  • Plant, cultivate and irrigate crops to ensure optimal growth
  • Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts to promote healthy growth
  • Seed cutting to ensure we are getting the best start for our crops
  • Weeding to maintain a healthy and weed-free environment
  • Clean work area to maintain a safe and healthy working environment
  • Fertilize and spray crops to ensure optimal growth and health
  • Harvest crops to ensure we are getting the best yieldSupport for Newcomers and Refugees
    • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees to ensure we are providing the best support for our team members
    • Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) to provide opportunities for those in need
    • Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees to ensure we are providing the best support for our team members
    Support for Youths
    • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment to ensure we are providing opportunities for young people

    Support for Indigenous People

    • Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers to ensure we are providing the best support for our team members
    • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations to ensure we are providing the best support for our team members
    • Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers to ensure we are providing the best support for our team members
    • Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers to ensure we are providing the best support for our team members
