We are seeking a qualified educator to join our team at Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug. As a teacher, you will be responsible for educating students in a fly-in community rich in traditional lifestyle, culture, and history.
Key Responsibilities- Teach and plan lessons for students in grades K-8, including students with special education needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans in cooperation with the school administration and special education resource teacher.
- Maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives.
- Supervise and coach extracurricular activities, promoting student engagement and well-being.
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Two years of successful teaching experience in schools with Indigenous students (an asset).
- Knowledge of and demonstrated respect for the Kl language, culture, heritage, and ways.
- Additional Qualifications courses in Reading, Math, and Special Education (an asset).
- Criminal Records Check Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- A QECO-based salary grid.
