LifeLabs Laboratory Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Victoria, BC. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in patient care and our business, ensuring the smooth collection and preparation of specimens for testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet and interact with patients, explaining the specimen collection process and ensuring they follow necessary test protocols.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Collect and prepare specimens for transportation and testing, including medical/legal drug screens and clinical trials.
  • Maintain client relationships, responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Enter patient demographics, requisition information, and other relevant data into our system.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience in phlebotomy, intravenous infusion, or intravenous therapy.
  • ECG training or experience is an asset.
  • Proficient data entry skills and excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
