Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Operations Director to lead our Shaw Affordable Housing division. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic and financial planning, project management, and team development for our construction and development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement divisional strategic and financial business plans
  • Provide regular management reporting to the corporate team
  • Establish project management systems to plan and control construction budgets and timelines
  • Lead site selection evaluations in rural municipalities
  • Work with planning and engineering teams to create efficient water and sewer services solutions
  • Help select civil contractors and monitor site progress
  • Develop long-term build-out plans for future projects
  • Develop short-term project plans and assist individual teams with project planning
  • Determine human resource requirements for the division and develop a plan to implement
  • Provide financial and budget expertise at all levels

Requirements

We are looking for a business leader with extensive experience and knowledge in the field of civil engineering, value engineering, and innovative design principles. You should possess expertise in project management, estimating, and financial analysis, with a strong understanding of business considerations and the ability to optimize value in all aspects of detail design and construction.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project management and estimating
  • Strong financial understanding and analytical way of thinking
  • Experience in leading and managing a business or division with P/L responsibility
  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
  • MBA or business education preferred but not required
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, self-starter, and driven to succeed
  • Technical background in land development and/or building construction
  • Naturally strong interpersonal skills, professional, hands-on, and humble style
  • Flexible to travel around Nova Scotia and the region
