The Program Supervisor is expected to operate within established guidelines of the YWCA and adhere to the policies, procedures, and regulations to deliver a high-quality before and after school program.

Responsible for the coordination, management, and execution of the program through the development and implementation of the daily activities and snack planning.

Collaborates with the Program Assistant by providing daily instructions, guidance, and support regarding the overall program implementation.

Designs plans and leads participants in various settings, delivering a range of indoor and outdoor games and activities.

Must be a team-oriented individual with skills in supervising and caring for children/students in a large group environment.
Reliable, adaptable, and trustworthy.

Communicates with participants respectfully and at their individual developmental levels, setting realistic behavior expectations in line with the YWCA Halifax NS-BAP Early Learning Behavior Guidance Policy.

Ensures that participants are supervised at all times and in accordance with YWCA policies and procedures.

A degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education/ Child and Youth Studies, Community Recreation, or extensive related experience in a childcare or recreational setting is required.

Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children.
Supervisory/Leadership training or experience (Lead Only).
Experience working with children facing behavioral challenges, disabilities, and inclusive practices (Inclusion Support position).
Food Handling/Safety Certificate – or willingness to obtain.
Child Abuse Record Check, Criminal Records, and Vulnerable Sector Check are mandatory.
