About the Role

CQ Search Group Ltd. is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Lawyer to join our team. As a key member of our litigation department, you will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of litigation files from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Case Management: Oversee and manage a diverse caseload of litigation files, ensuring timely and effective resolution of cases.
  • Legal Research and Drafting: Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other essential legal documents.
  • Court Representation: Represent clients effectively in court, including handling discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and trials.
  • Client Advice: Provide strategic and timely legal advice to clients, ensuring their best interests are represented.
  • Client Relationships: Develop and nurture strong client relationships through regular communication and updates.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with senior lawyers and team members on complex cases, contributing to strategic planning and business development.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about legal developments and changes in relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on personal injury or insurance defense.
  • Professional Membership: A member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Skills: Proven experience with client management, discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, and trials. Superior communication and English writing skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to work autonomously while also thriving in a collaborative team environment. Proactive attitude and ability to handle high-pressure situations.
Assets:
  1. Personal Injury or Insurance Defense Experience: Significant experience in personal injury or insurance defense litigation is highly desirable.
  2. Knowledge of Accident Benefits: Knowledge of accident benefits and injury tort claims.
  3. Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills and experience working with insurance adjusters and defense lawyers.
  4. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in French or other languages is considered a valuable asset.
  5. Independent Practice: A demonstrated ability to manage and grow an independent practice is a plus.
