Job Description

Job Title: Education Assistant - Casual

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Education Assistant to provide support to our classroom teachers in creating inclusive schools and classrooms. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our school-based teams to provide individualized support to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to classroom teachers in creating inclusive learning environments
  • Assist students with special needs in completing academic tasks and activities
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans to support student success
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents to ensure student needs are met
  • Participate in school-based teams to develop and implement strategies to support student success

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 plus the Special Education Teaching Assistant program or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs
  • Knowledge of behavior management, conflict resolution, and restraining techniques
  • Ability to function and communicate effectively as a member of a team
  • Flexibility, patience, stamina, emotional stability, and maturity to assist students with a variety of challenges
  • Sufficient physical strength, health, and coordination to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job
  • Valid BC Driver's license

Working Conditions:

This is a casual (on-call) position with no guarantee of hours. Shifts are steadily available, and there are opportunities for securing regular positions as you gain seniority.

Compensation:

$33.72 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
