About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Technologist/Designer to join our team at Kova Engineering Ltd. in Surrey, BC. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that offers a blend of in-office and field work, providing a comprehensive experience in both environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform design and dimensioning work on various types of machinery and components, creating as-built drawings and engineering documents.
  • Assist Inspection Technicians with field inspections and perform independent inspections when required, ensuring compliance with design specifications and standards.
  • Prepare fabrication and as-built drawings using AutoCAD 2D and 3D software, adhering to CAD standards.
  • Apply engineering methods to resolve design issues and provide drafting support to other engineering team members.
  • Perform field measurements and sketches, and aid engineering and administrative personnel as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with standard steel, concrete, and timber material specifications, weld symbols, and applicable codes and standards.
Requirements
  • Preferrable qualifications include a Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma and strong skills in computer-aided design (CAD).
  • Experience with access scaffold and shoring design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with structural and architectural drawings is essential.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Fast learner with a desire to grow personally and professionally.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
