Your Opportunity:

The Diagnostic Imaging department at Alberta Health Services provides general radiography, CT, and US services, with opportunities to learn or enhance CT skills. As a Medical Radiation Technologist I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for disease and pathology diagnosis.

Job Description:

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination, and produce high-quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review. Your work may include general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required. You will also assist with the care and maintenance of equipment and promote good teamwork.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Recent experience as a Medical Radiation Technologist performing procedures in general diagnostic imaging, including hospital-affiliated training programs
  • Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and promote good teamwork
  • Ability to work under pressure and in emergencies
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians
  • Practices effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques as applicable
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to many changes
  • Ability to interpret, explain, and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent mobile radiography experience
  • CT experience or enrollment/completion of CT courses
