Job Title: Itinerant Child and Youth Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Itinerant Child and Youth Worker to join our team at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work directly with students who are experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs. In collaboration with school and Board personnel, the needs of the students will be assessed and appropriate intervention plans will be created, implemented, and supported.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver programs in the areas of bullying prevention, self-esteem, social skills, conflict resolution, emotion management, etc., in either 1:1 or small group settings, and on occasion in a classwide program.
  • Liaise with school staff, parents, and community agencies to best support the child.
  • Assess and develop intervention plans to support students with social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs.
  • Provide intensive support for students in crisis as agreed between the school Administrator and the Learning Services department.
Requirements:
  • Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma (3 year) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years similar work experience.
  • BMS (Behavioural Management System) is a definite asset.
  • Courses related to understanding autism.
  • First Aid Certificate is a definite asset.
  • Experience supporting students with autism and/or behavioral difficulties.
  • Experience using data to understand behavior.
  • Have a reliable vehicle and a valid Ontario driver's license as travel throughout the Waterloo Region may be required.
