Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Spiritual Health Practitioner to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide compassionate spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and provide comprehensive spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff, respecting their beliefs and practices.
  • Promote the spiritual wellbeing of patients through listening, prayer, and group support activities.
  • Collaborate with spiritual/cultural representatives and clergy in the community to provide holistic care.
  • Provide spiritual and emotional support to staff during times of crisis and stress.
  • Mentor and support volunteer visitors who provide ministry to patients and residents.
  • Participate in program-based care team meetings, rounds, and huddles to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Document spiritual assessments and interventions in patient records to inform care teams.
  • Support patients and families considering or engaged in the MAiD process, adhering to Catholic Healthcare principles and Health Ethics Guidelines.
  • Participate in research projects and opportunities to advance spiritual care practices.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Theology, Public and Pastoral Leadership, Spiritual Practices, or other relevant theological/spiritual studies.
  • Minimum of one advanced unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), preferably two advanced units.
  • Two years of direct or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner with CASC/ACSS or commitment to achieving certification within two years.
