About the Opportunity

This position is based in a dynamic and fast-paced environment at Abbott, a leading global healthcare company. In our Electrophysiology business, we're advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. This role ensures the integrity and reasonableness of financial data, as well as compliance with corporate and divisional financial policies and procedures, and a profound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will support all aspects of Financial Control at the affiliate finance level, including Revenue Recognition Reporting and Monthly Account Accruals and preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the preparation of plans (Long-Range Plans, Entity Plans, etc.) for both Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet.
  • Complete all plan schedules for submission to Area.
  • Prepare Long-Range Plan presentation decks. Gather inputs from commercial teams, prepare financial slides and back-ups.
  • Review and challenge the demand forecast and ensure reasonableness and alignment with commercial strategies.
  • Manage the month-end closing process. Ensure timely completion of all journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end reports.
  • Prepare monthly performance reports (Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss). Explain performance variances vs. benchmarks (Plan, Long-Range Plan, and Prior Year).
  • Prepare and monitor spending budgets, including Selling, General, and Administrative expenses, Freight and Distribution, Warranties, etc.
  • Prepare and submit weekly Sales and Profit and Loss flash reports for Area.
  • Review and approve invoices for payment.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor one Senior Financial Analyst.
  • Provide finance support to commercial teams (e.g., cost-benefit analyses, finance procedures guidance, etc.).
  • Prepare and regularly update all financial Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation will be considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of previous experience in a similar role.
  • Revenue Recognition experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, etc.) and financial applications (e.g., SAP, Business Objects).
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Excellent English communication skills. French would be considered an asset.
  • Receptive to change and a team player.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadline requirements.
