Position Overview

The Finance Analyst role is integral to the Vice-President Research Innovation - Research Services Office, focusing on the management of financial accounts associated with research funding.

Salary Range: Competitive compensation based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive financial account support under the guidance of the Manager – Institutional Programs.
  • Manage post-award administration of research funding, ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze a variety of complex research projects, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with sponsors and internal teams to deliver effective financial services.
  • Utilize professional judgment to apply accounting principles and guidelines consistently.

Essential Duties

  • Prepare and submit claims to sponsors in various currencies, reflecting project-related expenses.
  • Compile and submit intricate financial statements, applying relevant accounting principles.
  • Investigate and rectify discrepancies in financial records, including budgets and expenditures.
  • Assist in the administration of subgrants and monitor accounts receivable.
  • Review financial terms of funding awards to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for the university community.

Qualifications

  • Possession of an Accounting Designation or an undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in financial administration within a research context is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with accounting software.
