Educational Requirements

Work Environment

The position is based in a supermarket setting, specifically within the meat department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare meats for processing by cleaning and cutting
  • Execute precise cuts of carcasses, sides, and quarters
  • Trim and prepare standard meat cuts
  • Wrap and package meats for sale
  • Remove bones from various meat products
  • Weigh and price meat items for customers
  • Cut poultry into appropriate parts
  • Prepare and clean fish and shellfish
  • Assist customers with meat sales
  • Cut fish into steaks and fillets
  • Grind and prepare meats for special orders
  • Create unique sausages and special displays of meat products
  • Shape and tie roasts, poultry, and seafood
Equipment Proficiency
  • Experience with band saws and manual cutting tools
  • Familiarity with power grinders and sausage machines
  • Proficient in using slicing machines

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
