Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia Care Unit
As a Registered Nurse, you will adopt a patient- and family-focused methodology in delivering comprehensive, high-quality, and secure care to individuals within the practice parameters defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario, supported by evidence-based nursing methodologies and the standards established by Mackenzie Health. Functioning both independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional care team, you will play a vital role in fostering a world-class healthcare experience for patients and their families. Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently managing a diverse workload in a dynamic environment.
- Proactively addressing and resolving challenges in a constructive and respectful manner.
- Exercising sound professional judgment while adhering to best practice guidelines.
- Promoting a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all by complying with patient and staff safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Critical care or Emergency care certification or equivalent educational background.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience in PACU, ICU, or Emergency settings is essential.
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in inpatient surgical, recovery room, ICU, or Emergency care.
- Strong patient assessment and care planning capabilities.
- Proven expertise in patient education and training.
- Proficiency in computer systems, particularly electronic medical records.
- Familiarity with the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively convey information and collaborate with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Proven capacity to take initiative and adapt to new or unforeseen circumstances.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
Ideally, your profile also includes:
- Experience in Day Surgery nursing.
- Completion of a Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU) course.
- Certification in Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Recent completion of a physical assessment course.
- Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) or Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
