Position Overview

This role involves instructing students in a designated area of expertise through a variety of teaching methodologies and resources. The instructor is tasked with developing course content, preparing educational materials, and assessing student performance. Additionally, the role includes ensuring the responsible management of college facilities and resources while adhering to institutional policies and participating in relevant meetings and committees.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver lectures, presentations, and hands-on training to students using a comprehensive teaching strategy.
  2. Create and organize course materials, including visual aids and online resources as necessary.
  3. Design, administer, and evaluate assessments to track and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  4. Support students by offering guidance on academic programs and career pathways.
  5. Provide additional instructional support to students needing extra help.
  6. Maintain effective management of classroom resources, tools, and equipment.
  7. Coordinate and oversee student projects, fieldwork, or practical training sessions.
  8. Comply with institutional policies, ensuring availability for student inquiries and maintaining confidentiality.
  9. Engage in departmental and college-wide meetings, collaborating with other departments on budgetary and curriculum matters.
  10. Undertake other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a certificate, diploma, or degree in building technology from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant industry experience in architectural drafting and design, covering various building types and codes.
  • Capability to teach technical drawing and related subjects effectively.
  • Proficiency in the latest versions of AutoCAD, including both 2D and 3D applications.
  • Familiarity with Revit Architecture and Sketchup is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a college teaching environment is preferred.
  • BC Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent, or a commitment to pursue the PID program.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

Compensation

The salary is competitive and prorated based on full-time equivalent (FTE) status.
