University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an experienced professional to fill the key role of Surgical Veterinary Technician in our Animal Resource Centre.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Veterinary Technician will be responsible for the daily operations of the surgical suites in the animal facilities. This includes surgical suite preparation, induction and monitoring of anesthesia, surgical assists, instruction in and assistance with various procedures, responsibility for drugs and supplies, monitoring biohazard and radioactive waste, laboratory animal technician duties, and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine daily animal care duties, including feeding, watering, and cleaning the animals
  • Provide daily treatments and maintain the physical plant in good working order
  • Assist research staff as required
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of animal care and treatment
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the surgical suites
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in veterinary technology and experience working in a surgical setting. You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
