We are currently seeking a Lab Patient Technician to become a vital part of our operations.

Role Overview: As a Lab Patient Technician, you will oversee the specimen collection process, which includes welcoming patients and preparing specimens for transport. This role is crucial in patient care and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patients' lives. The position is part-time, ideal for individuals with flexible schedules, and may include additional shifts at various LifeLabs locations.

Position Details: This part-time role allows for up to 20 hours of work per week. The successful candidate must be adaptable to work any day of the week and possess reliable transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients, gather necessary information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure compliance with testing protocols.
  • Conduct phlebotomies, connect and disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Carry out specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing all relevant documentation.
  • Maintain positive client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Accurately enter patient demographics, requisition details, and other pertinent information related to test result processing.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and subsequent testing.

The ideal candidate will prioritize exceptional customer service and demonstrate the ability to connect with patients and clients, even in challenging situations. Essential qualities include empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Experience in phlebotomy.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
