ROLE OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of the Manager of 2-East Medicine and Telemetry, the successful candidate will be tasked with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and practices within a multidisciplinary, family-centered care framework.

You will be responsible for delivering care to patients in general medicine and acute cardiac settings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Proficient in performing CPR at a basic Cardiac Life Support level.
  • Completion of a Coronary Care 1 course from an accredited institution, or a commitment to complete the course within three months of employment.
  • Health Assessment course from a recognized institution or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in medical/surgical or coronary care nursing.
  • Successful completion of an in-house arrhythmia quiz within six weeks after finishing the Coronary Care 1 course.
  • Proven ability to provide patient education and communicate expected outcomes and care plans effectively.
  • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, enabling effective collaboration with patients, families, staff, and the community.
  • Capability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
  • Ability to fulfill the essential duties of the position.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory performance record.

  • Demonstrated dedication to customer service when interacting with patients, colleagues, volunteers, and community members.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

Employment terms are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).

External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the last six months.
