About the Role:
Central 1 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax professional to lead our tax function. As the Head of Tax, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our tax strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing tax guidance to various business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the company's overall tax strategy, focusing on minimizing tax liability while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Lead tax reporting, including tax provision oversight, consolidation, disclosure, and controls
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of all tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory filings
- Collaborate with the finance team to provide accurate tax rate forecasts and tax budgets to proactively support accurate financial planning
- Identify and execute on opportunities to improve processes and controls associated with the tax function
- Work with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, HR, and operations to provide tax guidance for various business initiatives
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree specializing in accounting, finance, or equivalent
- Completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Program
- Professional accounting designation such as a CPA required
- At least 8 years of experience in Tax
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Tax
- Experience in preparation of corporate tax returns and income tax provision
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including ability to work cooperatively with many different stakeholders and ability to manage outside tax advisors
