Job Summary

The Activity Recreation Worker plays a vital role in promoting the overall quality of life for clients in healthcare facilities. This position requires a moderate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods to be employed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for clients
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to promote client well-being
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify client needs
Requirements
  • Grade Xll education required
  • Recognized Therapeutic Recreation/Activity Programming certificate or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two years recent relevant experience preferred
  • Experience working with older adult population
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
Working Conditions
  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy
  • Valid Class V driver's license, all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance
