Position Overview

We are currently in search of a meticulous and experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Manager, Domestic Competitions.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Senior Vice-President of Domestic Sport and is an integral part of the Domestic Sport Group. The successful candidate will collaborate effectively with various service channels to ensure that all events are executed with the utmost quality and uniformity across the nation.

Key Responsibilities:

The portfolio includes the following events:

  • NorAm Cups hosted in Canada (Alpine/SX)
  • National Championships – SX/Alpine
  • ACA U16 Regional Championships – Alpine

Strategic Planning and Volunteer Management:

  • Develop a comprehensive multi-year hosting strategy for all National Championships and align it with the Senior Vice-President.
  • Create an annual events calendar that identifies necessary staffing support for overlapping events.
  • Formulate and implement a strategy for recruiting and managing volunteers or contract support for event delivery.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of Event Agreements for all events, excluding specific World Cup events.
  • Manage budget planning and execution in collaboration with local organizing committees.
  • Establish and implement a volunteer appreciation program for events.

Relations with Host Organizing Committees:

  • Annually update the Event Manual for host committees to serve as a resource for event delivery.
  • Provide leadership and support during host committee meetings leading up to events.
  • Offer on-site assistance to host committees as needed.
  • Utilize the SnowReg platform to create a volunteer registration process for events.
  • Facilitate the formation of a national working group for race administrators to enhance resource sharing and education.

National Training Center Oversight:

  • Ensure the financial sustainability of the National Training Center, including exploring funding opportunities.

Grant Management:

  • Lead the application process for event hosting grants and maximize support through provincial and municipal applications.
  • Ensure timely completion of all reporting and accountability requirements for approved grants.
  • Conduct financial reconciliations with event organizing committees and distribute grant funds accordingly.

Equipment Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for event equipment management.
  • Collaborate with sport development staff and athletic teams to create both short-term and long-term competition calendars.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position that requires seasonal travel.
  • Expect significant outdoor work in winter conditions.
  • Physical activities may include lifting, walking, and skiing.
  • Overtime may be necessary during peak periods, subject to approval.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel and Teams.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to engage with internal and external partners.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Exhibit qualities of empathy, patience, and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated time management and change management abilities.
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of relevant competition rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of the Canadian sport system is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus.
