About the Role

The District of Saanich is seeking a skilled and experienced Waterworks Supervisor to join our Public Works team. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and overseeing the efficient operation of our water distribution system.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise multiple maintenance and leak repair crews, ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to implement and execute comprehensive maintenance programs for the waterworks system.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Waterworks Section, addressing any operational challenges or concerns.
  • Contribute to project management activities, including planning, budgeting, cost estimating, and scheduling for waterworks projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures within the Waterworks Section.

Your Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education, along with a two-year diploma in a related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in a Waterworks position within a municipal Public Works Department or a private contractor specializing in similar responsibilities.
  • Proven experience in project management, encompassing planning, budgeting, cost estimation, and scheduling.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in a relevant operational environment.
  • Level III EOCP Certification in Water Distribution and Cross Connection Control Certification.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience related to the hydraulics, construction, and operation of water distribution systems, including SCADA system operation and maintenance.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License and the physical ability to perform duties in various weather conditions.
