POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Partnerships and Engagement, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advising, planning, and executing initiatives related to partnerships and outreach with Indigenous communities. This position is integral to the organization's commitment to consultation and reconciliation efforts with Indigenous stakeholders. Responsibilities include conducting consultations, managing community relations, and overseeing various projects related to Indigenous engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert advice on Indigenous consultations, particularly in the context of impact assessments and traditional knowledge.
  • Draft official correspondence and develop workshops aimed at enhancing community engagement.
  • Analyze feedback from community interactions and prepare comprehensive reports to inform decision-making processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field such as Communications, Indigenous Studies, Public Relations, Political Science, Environmental Studies, or Urban Planning, or a suitable combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE
A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in Indigenous engagement and community relations, including:

  • Project management or event coordination experience.
  • Development of consultation strategies and materials tailored for diverse audiences.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • In-depth understanding of Indigenous communities, their objectives, and organizational structures.
  • Familiarity with stakeholder engagement and public consultation best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and deliver impactful presentations.
  • Proficiency in risk management and resolving complex issues.
  • Ability to create public-facing correspondence and manage digital content effectively.
  • Competence in analyzing data and producing detailed reports.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Eligibility for Secret security clearance.
  • Bilingual proficiency (BBB) is required.
