Position Overview
Garibaldi Glass is on the lookout for a Manufacturing Process Engineer and Safety Specialist to enhance our dynamic team. This unique role blends technical engineering skills with a robust dedication to fostering a secure work environment. Reporting directly to the Engineering Leader, the Manufacturing Process Engineer and Safety Specialist will take charge of their responsibilities while managing various priorities. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in both engineering and safety, enabling them to effectively incorporate safety measures into production processes to guarantee efficiency and compliance.


Key Responsibilities
Engineering:
  1. Assessing and standardizing production methods to ensure optimal performance levels.
  2. Managing manufacturing costs and effectively communicating these figures across all organizational tiers.
  3. Collaborating closely with maintenance and production teams to ensure machinery operates at peak efficiency.
  4. Identifying, designing, installing, and commissioning new production machinery; overseeing modifications and upgrades; and resolving existing process issues.
  5. Conducting process development experiments, documentation, and reporting tools.
  6. Taking charge of risk assessments, including hazard and operability studies, to safeguard both company personnel and the broader community.
  7. Making direct observations and measurements, as well as gathering and analyzing data from other technical and operational staff.
  8. Maintaining processes and being accountable for monitoring, investigating, implementing, and reporting changes to meet KPI targets.
  9. Ensuring compliance with all operational or process regulations.
  10. Establishing purchasing specifications and identifying components for electrical and mechanical systems.
  11. Executing process mapping and value stream mapping.
  12. Responsible for maintaining established defect targets through formal root cause corrective action analysis.
  13. Participating in and training on the continuous improvement/lean manufacturing initiative.
  14. Other duties and projects as assigned.
Health & Safety:
  1. Developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards.
  2. Conducting regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
  3. Providing safety training and education to employees to cultivate a safety-oriented culture.
  4. Investigating accidents and incidents to uncover root causes and implement corrective measures.
  5. Keeping accurate records of safety incidents, training, and compliance activities.
  6. Coordinating with management to ensure safety protocols are integrated into all operational processes.
Qualifications
  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and safety coordination.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or a related field).
  3. Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  4. Ability to develop and communicate ROI calculations to leadership.
  5. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with a keen interest in understanding and improving processes.
  6. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities within various deadlines.
  7. Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  8. Previous experience in identifying and leading improvement initiatives utilizing Project Management best practices.
  9. Excellent facilitation and communication skills to engage with all organizational levels.
  10. Experience in creating process documentation.
  11. Experience in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  12. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and AutoCAD.
  13. Ability to build effective and trusting working relationships.
  14. Strong organizational skills to manage a diverse workload and meet deadlines.
  15. A hands-on approach, willing to spend a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor.
  16. Previous manufacturing experience is an asset.
