Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team in the French Immersion Program. As a Designated Early Childhood Educator, you will work collaboratively with Kindergarten educators to plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences for students in the French Immersion program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Kindergarten educators to plan and implement learning experiences that build skills in French literacy and cognition.
  • Implement the French Immersion curriculum and address individual student needs, stages of development, and interests.
  • Provide positive social and emotional experiences to strengthen prosocial skills such as sharing, problem-solving, and cooperation.
  • Plan programs and environments that facilitate play-based activities and ongoing opportunities for developmental progress.
  • Supervise and assist children in washroom routines, dressing, snack, and lunchtime activities, and accompany children on field trips.
  • Work collaboratively as a team with educators and school staff to deliver a French Immersion Kindergarten/Extended Day program.
  • Report to parents and supervisors on children's developmental progress within healthy, safe, nurturing, and challenging play environments.
  • Observe and assess children's progress and learning behaviors.
Requirements
  • Two-year Community College Early Childhood Education Diploma along with 6 months of childcare experience in an educational setting.
  • Proof of Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Oral and written French and English language proficiency.
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Education Program and Extended Day Program Guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff, and the public.
  • Proven ability to deal with difficult situations and take appropriate action in stressful or emergency situations according to policies and procedures.
