Job Summary

Baird & Associates is seeking a highly skilled Coastal Engineer to join our team. As a Coastal Engineer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of assignments that require the application of moderate-to-advanced design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with limited guidance from senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Engineering: Support planning, research, design, engineering, and preparation of plans and specifications for coastal and marine projects.
  • Project Management: Assist with project management, including client interaction, project budget and schedule control, and coordination of quality control procedures.
  • Data Analysis: Assist with the collection and analysis of data for coastal and marine projects.
  • Project Development: Develop project manuals, including plans and specifications, for coastal and marine projects.
  • Client Interaction: Participate in proposal preparation and interviews, attract new clients, and retain clients as necessary.
  • Team Collaboration: Work across different offices and time zones to support the administration and on-site observation of marine construction projects.
Requirements
  • Education: B.S. in Civil, Ocean, or Coastal Engineering or a closely related engineering category from an accredited University or College (M.S. preferred).
  • Professional Credentials: Ability to obtain a professional EIT within 6 months.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of coastal or marine engineering experience, in a consulting or contractor role.
  • Skills: Demonstrated experience in project design or construction experience involving coastal and marine structures, ecosystem restoration or navigation & dredging.
  • Personal Qualities: Flexible work style, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment, meet challenging deadlines and client needs.
Nice to Have Qualifications
  • Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of codes and standards relative to coastal engineering.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to clearly document the basis of design including the documentation of design codes and standards, data analysis, assumptions, calculations, and conclusions.
  • Construction Experience: Construction experience related to waterfront and coastal projects.
  • Travel Requirements: Some domestic and international travel will be required to undertake the job duties described above.
