Position Overview:
The IT Investment Solutions Group at HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan) is seeking a highly qualified individual to assume a full-time senior role as a DevOps Engineer within our IT for Investments Infrastructure team. This position is essential for enabling comprehensive solutions that support HOOPP's Investment, Finance, and Risk Management divisions.
Our principles emphasize delivering genuine customer value in a dynamic and fast-paced setting. You will collaborate closely with Enterprise Architects, the Project Management Office, Governance, Information Security, and partner Infrastructure team Product Owners and PMs to ensure that cloud system operations and projects align with all organizational goals.
As a vital member of our dynamic team, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to align with the organization's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cloud technologies, a robust background in DevOps methodologies, and a passion for automation and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and expertise in designing, constructing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and automated cloud infrastructure solutions on platforms such as AWS and Snowflake.
- Develop systems aimed at minimizing manual efforts and complexities through the automation of provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and scaling of infrastructure and applications.
- Exhibit expert scripting capabilities, with the ability to independently automate intricate solutions from start to finish, troubleshoot issues, maintain quality with minimal defects and code reuse, and mentor other team members in scripting and automation.
- Combine conceptual and practical expertise in cloud infrastructure, IT architecture, scripting, continuous integration, and deployment (CI/CD), build automation, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and remediation to architect, develop, and deliver complex solutions following best practices and architectural frameworks.
- Lead and promote cross-functionality within the team by serving as a role model for learning and sharing best practices in infrastructure and operations; collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including leadership, business, development teams, and IT enterprise partners to support KTLO/BAU operations and deliver projects and services.
- Independently spearhead key initiatives that necessitate interfacing with internal customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, design, plan, and implement reliable and secure solutions.
- Fully comprehend business requirements and leverage best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to enhance systems and applications in terms of performance, reliability, scalability, recoverability, resiliency, and supportability.
- Manage, prioritize, track, and resolve production issues and operational challenges; employ analytical thinking, tools, and judgment to identify root causes and long-term solutions.
- Collaborate with data solution teams to create automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for the automation of provisioning, deployment, and configuration of Snowflake infrastructure resources.
- Mentor junior colleagues and invest time in their technical growth; act as a subject matter expert to guide and share knowledge across departmental teams.
- Bring strategic insights and holistic thinking to the team; ensure security and compliance while being adaptable to shifting priorities.
- Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing, DevOps, and infrastructure automation, as well as Snowflake infrastructure administration.
- Communicate complex concepts clearly, ensuring understanding among all team members; welcome diverse perspectives, anticipate challenges, and support sound decision-making for the team.
- Actively foster a culture of feedback by providing and seeking input from peers and colleagues, while also recognizing the contributions of others.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in IT Infrastructure Operations and/or Software Development with a focus on DevOps and automation.
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, with hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- In-depth knowledge and experience with CI/CD and IT automation tools and practices (Azure DevOps, AWS Code Pipeline/CodeCommit/CodeDeploy, Artifactory, etc.).
- Comprehensive understanding and practical expertise in IT architecture (cloud-based, serverless, and microservice-based architecture, etc.), cloud infrastructure and technologies, scripting, and IaC tools (JSON, YAML, Python, PowerShell, Terraform, etc.).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Solid grasp of networking concepts, security principles, data protection, and best practices for cloud infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, MVP, etc.
- Expertise in Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with IT operational processes (incident management, identity and access management, logging and monitoring, security, etc.) and a deep understanding of monitoring tools (such as CloudWatch, DataDog, Splunk, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues and drive resolution.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud Certified - Professional DevOps Engineer preferred, or Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification preferred.
