We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team at ReliableVA Solutions LLC. As a Tax Manager, you will play a key role in developing and implementing tax planning strategies for our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Tax Planning Strategies: Assist in the creation and execution of tax planning strategies for various clients, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on various tax issues, preparing concise and conclusive research memoranda to support tax planning and compliance.
- Tax Planning Opportunities: Identify and implement tax planning opportunities, including tax reorganizations, estate plans, and post-mortem tax planning, to minimize tax liabilities for clients.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Assist senior staff members in all aspects of corporate tax initiatives, providing guidance and support to junior team members.
- Staying Current: Maintain a current and high level of familiarity and understanding of tax codes, regulations, and other technical information to ensure compliance and optimal tax planning.
- Client Deliverables: Utilize staff to meet client deliverables in a timely manner and on budget, ensuring exceptional client service.
- Tax Authority Engagement: Engage in discussions and correspondence with various tax authorities to explain positions taken by clients and to determine reasons for assessed amounts.
- Progress Updates: Keep senior managers/partners apprised of the progress of assigned tasks, focusing on moving files/engagements forward and managing within time budgets.
- Tax Returns and Forms: Prepare various complex tax returns, tax forms, and various tax elections, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- External Communications: Write external publications and blog posts, and other memoranda, to share knowledge and expertise with clients and industry professionals.
- Presentations: Present on specific tax topics internally and externally, sharing expertise and knowledge with colleagues and clients.
- Jr. Team Support: Provide guidance and support the development of junior members of the tax team, helping them grow and succeed in their roles.
- Firm Promotion: Participate in firm promotion events to increase awareness of the firm and its services in the marketplace.
- Education: University degree and completion or near completion of In-Depth Tax program, or completed a Masters of Taxation program, or CPA.
- Experience: At least four years' practical experience in public practice, with a strong background in Canadian tax planning and compliance.
- Technical Skills: Exceptional technical skills, with a strong understanding of tax codes, regulations, and other technical information.
- Soft Skills: Keen attention to detail, ability to multitask, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Caseware/Caseview: Strong knowledge of Caseware/Caseview, with experience in tax planning and compliance.
- Tax Applications: Strong knowledge of tax applications, including Taxprep, CCH Intelliconnect, Taxnet Pro, Tax Find, etc.
- Microsoft Office: Microsoft Office Applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
