Position Overview:

The Advisor for Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity plays a pivotal role in supporting the initiatives of the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Office (ARCDO) at the University of Toronto. Reporting to the Director of ARCDO, this position is essential in the formulation, execution, and management of the University’s tri-campus anti-racism and cultural diversity strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and facilitate ongoing educational programs aimed at combating discrimination and harassment, while promoting anti-racism and cultural diversity across campus.
  2. Collaborate with student organizations, faculty, and staff to create and implement outreach initiatives that address equity and cultural diversity.
  3. Serve as a confidential resource for students, faculty, and staff, providing guidance on available services, policies, and support options.
  4. Assist in the development of the University’s anti-discrimination educational curriculum, working closely with Divisional Equity Directors and EDI leads.
  5. Conduct research and provide support for Human Rights policy analysis and implementation.
  6. Identify opportunities for procedural improvements within the office to enhance efficiency.

The role demands a high level of professionalism and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior administrators, faculty, staff, and community members.

Qualifications:

I. Education:
A graduate degree in a relevant field, with a focus on human rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

II. Experience:
A minimum of four years of relevant experience in developing and delivering educational programming, with a strong understanding of anti-racism and cultural diversity frameworks. Experience in curriculum design, group facilitation, and project management within a post-secondary context is preferred.

III. Skills:
Exceptional writing, editing, and research capabilities; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. A thorough understanding of contemporary equity, diversity, and inclusion concepts is essential.
