Job Overview

Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months in a similar role
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare layouts in accordance with building regulations, utilizing measuring instruments
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials such as wood, wood substitutes, and lightweight steel
  • Prepare bids and cost estimates for projects
  • Construct foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect wall and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware
  • Coordinate and schedule work on construction sites
  • Survey building locations and assess levels
  • Instruct and mentor apprentices
  • Supervise and guide other workers
  • Estimate project costs and required materials
  • Utilize CADD and other software systems for design and planning
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residential and commercial wooden structures
Supervision

Will supervise 1 to 2 individuals.

Work Environment
  • Physical demands include bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Ability to handle heavy loads
  • Must be able to manage a large workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Overtime may be required
  • Work with minimal supervision
