Plains Midstream Canada ULC is seeking a skilled Rail Loader to join our team at our Dewdney Terminal near Regina, SK.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious individual to perform daily railcar loading activities in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to safety standards, verifying railcar numbers, connecting and disconnecting LPG railcars, and performing railyard switching operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards in accordance with company policy and legislated requirements.
  • Verify railcar numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars.
  • Connect, disconnect, gauge, and seal LPG railcars as the loading process requires.
  • Perform railyard switching operations required to position railcars at various stages of the operation.
  • Interact with CP and Plains staff regarding receipt, inspection, and shipment of railcars.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting for respective loading equipment; perform pump and valve maintenance.
  • Perform safety system testing and periodic inspection/calibration of equipment.
  • Understand the flow rates of product in conjunction with car loading and movement to meet daily loading requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Interprovincial Journeyperson—Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Electrician, and/or Instrumentation and Control Technician
  • Power engineering certification considered an asset
  • Certified line locator considered an asset
  • 1–3 years of previous loading or rail operations experience preferred but not required.
  • Able to read and interpret P&IDs considered an asset
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., climb stairs / ladders / work at heights, and work outside in inclement weather conditions
  • Strong safety orientation
  • Able to confidently and accurately calculate figures and amounts related to proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Cleared pre-employment rail medical fit test
  • Compliance with the #Plains drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing #Plains
