CN is a world-class transportation leader and trade-enabler, seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team. As an Electrician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our locomotive fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Repair, replace, and monitor locomotive electrical components
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and test circuits and connections using electrical test equipment
- Inspect equipment and ensure proper maintenance and repairs are completed, while adhering to timelines and budget restrictions
- Responsible for ordering electrical parts and maintaining a clean and safety-conscious work area
- Perform maintenance and correctly fill out forms for repair and maintenance
As an Electrician, you will be required to work on varying shifts to cover operations that run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. You will work shifts on weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays, and may be required to perform physical work in the shop, outdoors, or outside the terminal, year-round in all weather conditions.
Requirements- High school diploma or GED
- Approved Electrician Certification
- 2 years of electrical work experience
- Valid driver's license
- 1 year of mechanical work experience (asset)
- Basic computer skills (asset)
The incumbent participates in a 2-blocks of classroom training, which includes in-class theory and hands-on skill development for the field. The role requires the incumbent to pass a series of periodic tests relating to duties, responsibilities, and operating rules. Successful completion of the classroom training is mandatory in order to work as an Electrician Apprentice at CN.
