Athletes in Action (a division of Power To Change) is dedicated to guiding individuals towards a deeper understanding of Jesus and experiencing His transformative power through sports. Our collective efforts, whether from staff or volunteers, are aimed at advancing this mission. Athletes in Action embodies a team spirit committed to three Core Values: Passionate Commitment, Authentic Community, and Collaborative Play.
Position Overview
As a Beach Club Coach, you will be an integral part of a coaching team that embodies the principles of Faith First, Family Matters, Excellence, and Enjoyment. Coaches will engage with athletes of varying skill levels, providing inclusive programming for all participants. Each coach will be assigned to one or more groups throughout the beach club season.
Primary Objectives:
- Share the gospel with those who have not yet believed and nurture the spiritual growth of those who already know Jesus.
- Facilitate AIA's More Than a Game presentations and lead small group discussions with participating athletes.
- Counter negative perceptions of sports by sharing the gospel and coaching with a focus on transformation.
- Ensure a first-class camp experience for all participants.
- Participate in coach training, club meetings, and orientation sessions.
- Collaborate closely with the coaching team and additional AIA staff to fulfill roles and responsibilities.
- Utilize age-appropriate teaching methods to foster skill development.
- Build and maintain relationships with key figures in the sports community.
- Communicate the experiences and stories from the club to the Regional Director.
Education & Experience
- A university degree or equivalent is required.
- Experience in varsity or post-secondary sports is essential.
- Previous coaching experience is preferred.
- A deepening relationship with Jesus and a desire for personal growth as a leader are necessary.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Ability to comprehend and apply coaching tools and strategies for athlete skill enhancement.
- Capacity to create a safe, enjoyable, and stimulating learning environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a team structure.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- A strong understanding of and passion for the athletic domain.
- A heart for evangelism with the ability to communicate the gospel effectively.
- Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and a proactive attitude.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with both small and large groups.
Funding: Centrally Funded
This position is centrally funded. AIA secures funding through camper registrations, grants, and donations.
