Position Summary: The Engineering Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and quality of engineering documentation across various disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, architectural, instrumentation, and electrical engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of engineering schematics to confirm compliance with industry standards and internal quality management protocols.
- Serve as the primary reviewer for project documentation generated by both internal teams and external partners, ensuring adherence to established quality benchmarks.
- Monitor project progress and validate closure requests, ensuring the accuracy of the Asset Drawing List (ADL) and Project Drawing List (PDL).
- Review and assign metadata to newly integrated drawings within the document management system to facilitate efficient retrieval and organization.
- Gather and upload engineering documentation to the system, ensuring compliance with internal management and record-keeping policies.
- Assess drawings from various sources, including other drafters and external consultants, to ensure precision and conformity to design specifications.
- Provide expert guidance to clients and team members regarding drawing layouts and the application of engineering standards.
- Offer technical direction to drafters, technologists, and engineers engaged in drafting tasks, ensuring alignment with internal standards.
- Develop training resources and procedures related to engineering drafting and quality assurance for both internal staff and external contractors.
- Utilize computer-assisted drafting tools and contribute to the development of efficient operational methods and standards.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary program in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Certification or eligibility for certification at the technologist level by the appropriate professional body.
- Proficient in CAD/CAM technologies, with a preference for MicroStation, and familiarity with additional engineering software.
- Working knowledge of document management systems, spreadsheet applications, and other relevant software tools.
- Strong understanding of operational systems and construction processes, including project closure protocols.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities, with a capacity to interpret diverse data sources.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
