Job Title: Geriatric Social Worker

We are seeking a skilled Geriatric Social Worker to join our team at the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. As a Geriatric Social Worker, you will play a vital role in providing social services to our elderly clients, ensuring they receive the support and care they need to live independently.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the needs of our elderly clients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and providing counseling and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems. You will also supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees, and volunteers, and perform administrative tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the needs of elderly clients and develop individualized care plans
  • Provide counseling and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems
  • Supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees, and volunteers
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry and record-keeping
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients
Requirements:
  • Degree in Social Work or related field
  • Experience working with elderly clients and their families
  • Strong assessment and intervention skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
