About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cook to contribute to the success of our culinary team at Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes, ensuring quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Prepare and cook special meals for guests based on communicated allergies or intolerances.
  • Take responsibility for the quality and function of a specific kitchen station, such as the grill, sauté, pantry, or pastry.
  • Organize and stock ingredients, ensuring they are readily available and properly stored.
  • Follow portion control guidelines accurately to reduce food waste and to ensure consistent quality and taste of dishes.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment. Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of related experience.
  • Completion of Secondary school required.
  • Valid Food safe certificate or advanced (Level 2) Food Safety certification is preferred.

Working Conditions

This position may work dayshift, afternoon, or evening shift any day of the week or weekend with long days to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines. This position is set in a fast-paced and, at times, high-pressure environment that requires continuous physical movement, the ability to lift up to 30 lbs., and the ability to manage multiple sequences and demands. There may be periods of independent work and changes in temperature from the back to the front of the house.
