Role Overview: We are seeking candidates for the position of Electrical Engineering Technician. This role will be based in Burnaby and may involve travel across British Columbia and other provinces for project support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct electrical analysis and design within industrial and utility environments.
  • Design and integrate protective relaying systems (SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider, etc.).
  • Implement industrial and utility substation automation (SEL RTAC, RTU, HMI, Communications, etc.).
  • Perform electrical studies, including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc-flash assessments, load flow calculations, grounding evaluations, and harmonic analysis.
  • Create, modify, review, and approve electrical drawing packages, including single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and general arrangements.
  • Design and modify electrical distribution systems, including MCCs, switchgear, breakers, fuses, switches, transformers, capacitor banks, current transformers, potential transformers, protective relays, and controls.
  • Troubleshoot electrical system issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Support field services for maintenance and commissioning activities at customer locations.
  • Conduct onsite inspections and gather data.

Qualifications:
  • A diploma in electrical engineering technology from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of industrial and utility protection and relay systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (CEC, IEEE1584).
  • Experience with electrical engineering software such as EasyPower, SKM, and ETAP is advantageous.
  • Understanding of microprocessor-based relays and their functionalities is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required due to fieldwork obligations.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
