Job Title: Special Education Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Technician to join our team at Commission Scolaire Central Quebec / Central Quebec School Board. As a Special Education Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs and working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the teaching team, families, and external resources to provide targeted support for students with special needs.
- Develop and implement innovative support methods and design customized learning strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Contribute to the creation, development, and implementation of personalized intervention plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor student progress and create a stimulating learning environment that encourages open communication and academic success.
- Develop and lead diversified activities to reinforce various student competencies and provide direct academic support in basic skills, lessons, and homework.
- Use proactive approaches to support students in their adaptation and behavioral management, employing optimal and adapted communication techniques.
- Provide information on social issues and refer students and their families to specialized resources as needed.
- Manage the supervision of students requiring specific follow-up after sanctions and organize their school reintegration.
- Ensure the safety and support of students requiring special attention during school transportation, if necessary.
- Document observations and interventions, maintain up-to-date student files, and prepare detailed reports.
- Administer medication according to medical and school guidelines and intervene in first aid, if necessary.
- Guide and train new team members and supervise support staff tasks related to technical operations.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to address emerging requirements.
Requirements:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Special Education Technician who is passionate about supporting students with special needs. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and have a strong commitment to providing high-quality support services.
