Medical Biochemist Specialist

Island Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Biochemist or Clinical Chemist to join our team in Victoria, BC. As a key member of our Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics department, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic laboratory oversight and participating in routine and special chemistry services, teaching rounds, committee work, administrative tasks, and consultations to clinicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical and technical leadership in a regional model, including quality assurance, utilization management, and stewardship activities.
- Develop and implement dynamic testing strategies to improve patient care.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless laboratory operations and high-quality patient results.
- Participate in provincial Laboratory Agency committee and operation planning work.
- Contribute to academic program delivery and clinical research opportunities.
Requirements:
- Hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada specialty certification in Medical Biochemistry or General Pathology.
- Have full, unrestricted license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons British Columbia or hold a PhD degree and be certified (or eligible for certification) in Clinical Chemistry by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (CACB) and/or American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC).
