Job Summary

The William Osler Health System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Acute Pain Service. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for promoting clinical excellence, quality patient-centered care, and high professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Practice: Conduct daily rounds, including pain assessment and management of post-surgical patients and non-surgical acute pain consults, adhering to the practice standards for a Nurse Practitioner set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario (2016).
  • Collaboration: Work within a collaborative practice model with anaesthesiologists and other physicians to manage the daily workload of the acute pain service.
  • Education and Training: Work with clinical nurse educators to provide orientation and ongoing educational support regarding all aspects of the acute pain service and post-operative pain management to the surgical services clinical staff.
Qualifications
  • Education: Current extended class registration RN (EC) required with CNO, Masters degree in nursing.
  • Experience: Demonstrated core competencies as described in the Canadian Nurse Practitioner Core Competency Framework, knowledge and clinical expertise in care of the acute post-surgical patients and pain management nursing.
  • Skills: Highly developed critical thinking skills, knowledge of diversity when performing health assessments, making diagnoses, and providing therapeutic management.
  • Personal Qualities: Identifies and creates a positive learning environment, effectively manages sensitive issues with patients, families, and the healthcare team, and facilitates learning and acts as a mentor for inter-professional team members.
Additional Requirements
  • Language: Fluent in English (comprehension, reading, writing, and speaking), knowledge of another language is considered an asset.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer skills and data management required (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access).
  • Continuous Learning: Demonstrated continual learner.
